Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is because the Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for many years. Guests from all of the nearby states get in autos and head over to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Native bands of Oklahoma have established gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and at this time control ten casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were founded. Electronic games such as one armed bandits were not approved, on the grounds that they are believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to permit massive Indian wagering gambling halls. You will now find American Indian gambling dens with slot machine games, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the Indian casinos yet, but that is simply a waiting game. Nobody can determine whether having other games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
