Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for decades. Patrons from many of the neighboring states get in vehicles and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today control ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were founded. automated games like slots weren’t allowed, due to the fact that they are believed to lead to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law has changed to permit massive Native wagering casinos. You will now discover Native gambling dens with slots, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Native gambling halls yet, but this is simply a waiting game. Nobody can authority whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
