Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for generations. Guests from all of the surrounding states get in trucks and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today run ten gambling halls of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines were not permitted, on the grounds that they’re believed to contribute to gambling addiction more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma law has altered to permit big Indian gambling gambling halls. You will now see Amerindian casinos with slots, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Native casinos as of yet, although this is simply a matter of time. No one can authority whether having other gambling den games in the bingo parlours will do for the popularity of bingo.
