Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the Native tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for generations. Patrons from all of the neighboring states load up in trucks and visit Oklahoma to wager on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, twenty three of the 39 Indian bands located in Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the betting restrictions, and at this time run ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which these casinos were built on. Electronic games like slots were not allowed, due to the fact that they are believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts has changed to allow for big Native gambling gambling dens. You will now see Amerindian gambling dens with slots, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the Amerindian casinos as of yet, however this is simply a matter of time. Nobody can say with what having other games in the bingo parlours will do for the draw of bingo.
