Will the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Drive Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

A lot has been written in the papers not long ago concerning the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big tax breaks to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However can the online version of this classic game offer a lifeline, or might it not compare to its land based opposite?
Bingo has been an familiar game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had witnessed a recent return in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the introduction of the smoking ban across England and Wales.
Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes while dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common locations where folks like to puff on cigarettes.
The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo halls. Profits have plummeted and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Of course they have not forgotten this established game?
The answer is online. Gamblers realize that they can enjoy bingo using their computer while enjoying a cocktail and fag and in the end, have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on on the net could never replace the collective aspect of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with no choice.
